August, 2011
In August 2011, members of the Greenbelt Circle attended the Tar Sands Protests in Washington DC and “American Dream” Town Meetings about jobs and the economy. The Circle helped members see how climate change and economic struggles are interconnected, and that the over-influence of corporations in our democracy is at the root of both problems.
Some other upcoming actions may include:
– showing “Inside Job”
– chatting over potlucks, where we bring extra servings for folks to take home (like the dinner swap)
– watching more movies together
– starting more CSC circles
– reading Lester Brown’s “Plan B 4.0” or “World on the Edge”
– organizing 4 “Reskilling Workshops” for the community over the next 12 months
– starting a Barter Network (or Time Bank?) among ourselves or in town
