September 16 in Boston: Find Your Activist Support Group!

Posted September 13, 2012 in Event Archive

3:00PM on Sunday, September 16th
First Parish Church of Dorchester (map)
RSVP to [email protected]

We’ll serve some light refreshments.  Feel free to bring something to share, if you’d like.

Join us for our second meeting! We will decide on the format for breaking into our individual groups, each with about six participants.  There will also be a discussion on whether the entire group should continue to meet on a regular basis.

–  Study – Learning more about the interconnected issues our world is facing and the way forward

–  Emotional support – Overcoming feelings of isolation and frustration caused by living in a world that doesn’t care enough about climate change and other serious issues

–  Respite – Taking time to recharge our batteries in the company of others who have spent years as activists

–  Operational effectiveness – The climate crisis has drastically shortened our timeframe for action.  How do we as activists respond to the mandate for immediate systemic change?

We are grateful to Reverend Art Lavoie for allowing our group to meet at the First Parish Church of Dorchester.  It’s a place of community building and engagement.  As their webpage states: “We come together as a community of like-spirited people having travelled many different paths to arrive here. … Our goal is to build our spirits individually so that collectively, we can make a difference in our world.”

Directions to the First Parish Church: 10 Parish St., Dorchester, MA 02122-3029, Phone: 617-436-0527. Parking is available on the surrounding streets and on our lot next to the fire station. We are a 15-minute walk from the Fields Corner MBTA Redline subway station.
