Update from Sustainable Eiber

Dear Resilience Circle  folks –

It was so great to have so many enthusiastic, high energy neighbors coming together last Thursday night!  I didn’t do a headcount but I’d say there was at least 20 people present. We enjoyed  and appreciated our guest Speaker, Dana Miller , sharing with us about her activities in the local, healthy food movement.  She has certainly  stoked our enthusiasm for the ground-breaking of our community garden at Eiber Elementary  this spring as well as the recently established garden  at the Open School on 10th Ave.  And there was also LOTS of good, healthy,  home-cooked food!!

Meeting place   for December Circle –   It seems that the  first  Thursday of the month has become the ‘regular’ time for our meetings. Please let me know if you would like to host the next Resilience Circle on Thursday, December 6th from 6.30 – 8pm ish.  OR if you would like to host one on the first Thursday of any upcoming month , also let me know. My plan is to try to get a schedule in place a few months in advance.

Speaker suggestions? Do you know someone who would make a great speaker for our group meetings? Please let me know your suggestion and we can discuss inviting them for a particular monthly meeting

Sustainable Living Discussion Group –  At the last meeting, a number of folks expressed interest in starting  a Sustainable Living Discussion Group. As well as being a fun and  educational way to socialize with like-minded individuals this discussion group could also serve as an ‘incubator’ for new  activities that the Circle may want to take up.  I’ve chosen a few possible meeting days / times and made a Doodle poll so you can tell me the best day(s) for  you to meet.  you should receive the email soon from Doodle – all you need to do is go to the link, add your name and indicate ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for the times listed.

Bike Eiber Contact Bill Spriggs, wspriggs2001@yahoo.com. Thought:  ‘Our’ Light Rail Line  will be opening on April 26, 2013.  It would be wonderful to have some kind of   a community celebration (and train ride!) on the day.   If anyone has any ideas or energy for this, please let Bill know!

Dana Miller, our speaker  at last week’s Circle, sent me an email saying,

“Thanks to all for allowing me to join your group last night!  You are all amazing and to be hugely commended for the work you are doing! Just for the fun of it, here’s a link to a short video of a recent project we did with Slow Food Denver and Healthy Realities – Pop Up Picnic Denver…..
